The Origin of Plenhaus

Why We Spent $1M

On a cooking system nobody asked us to invent, and why we spent five years and a million dollars inventing it anyway.

WHY WE EXIST

Five years, thirty-seven patents, thousands of tests

Between the first sketch and the first appliance that reached a customer, five years passed.

Most of that time went into engineering no one will ever see. The heating element sits inside the bowl instead of above it. We developed our own heating system and our own 360° air circulation rather than adapting somebody else's. The two-lid system was cycled thousands of times so the seal still holds after years of daily cooking.

The result is 37 registered patents. The more important result is a machine that behaves the way the engineers promised it would — meal after meal, year after year.

Thousands of tests were run before a single unit was sold. Most of what we built failed some of them. What shipped didn't.

OUR IDEA

Developed with people who cook for a living

We didn't design this in isolation. Professional chefs worked with the engineering team through the final stages, testing, pushing back, and rewriting methods whenever the appliance could do better.

That is where the recipe collection comes from. Not a database bought and translated, but dishes actually cooked, corrected and documented in the same system you'll have on your counter.
